Towards the end of the year 1519 - Alfonso d’Este, the Duke of Ferrara, was seeking an artist to complete a new commission for him at the Ducal Palace.

And, as head of one of the most powerful families in Italy at the time, he naturally had his sights set only on working with the very best.
