The Mysterious La Bella Principessa

I’ve mentioned numerous times in past essays that Leonardo da Vinci’s oeuvre as a painter is surprisingly small.

At best, we have around twenty surviving works from the great man. But even this is pushing things quite a lot - and many scholars argue that there are actually only eight paintings which we can be 100% certain come from Leonardo’s own hands.
