For much of his career, he was widely ridiculed or rejected by the art critics of his time.
But, at least in the minds of his artist peers - with the likes of Claude Monet, Edgard Degas, Camille Pissarro and so many others in the impressionist circle - Cezanne came to represent something else entirely…
