When I think of Chagall, I always remember the “Peace” stained glass window he created for the UN building to commemorate Dag Hammarskjold’s life and tragic death during the Katanga Rebellion in the Congo.
This was good to see these artworks through your eyes as I’m not a fan tbh, but it helps knowing it’s about a feel rather than thinking about them. Due anyone know what medium he uses? They look a bit like pastels?
The colors in these paintings are breathtaking. I want them on my walls! That blue just pulls me in. What would you call the blue color as a paint color?
Yes - he's a bit of a popular artist for collectors for sure. In fact, that first work in this article is going up for sale at Sothebys literally in the coming weeks.
Dreams. Colour. Joyfulness. Romance AND Poetry :-) One of my favorit artist indeed. I love also how he illustrated " Les Fables" de La Fontaine. Beautiful piece of art! Thanks for sharing George!

These are all beautiful paintings. Thanks for featuring them.
Just lovely. Thank you for pulling these together, I am only familiar with the first one. The others, too, really sing to my heart. 🥲
I'm so glad to know you enjoyed them.
I love the work of Chagall but had not seen these before-- or don't recall seeing them. They are indeed ethereal--and beautiful. Thank you.
Happy to know you enjoyed them, Diana.

Glad to know you enjoyed them, Connie. Sadly, I don't know the exact name for that shade of blue. But would definitely be interested to know too.
Anybody know?
A new artist for me today - beautiful pieces. I love the bold color choice with the soft almost impressionist-esque style.
I'm happy to know you enjoyed this as a little introduction to his work.
Thank you. I love Chagall.
Marvellous and perceptive - and all in private collections!

Fabulous! Thank you
Wow, great choices.
Thanks David.
Lovely George! Thank you.
Much appreciated. Glad to know you enjoyed them.
I prefer Chagall’s glass work as it moves the depth of colors that are otherwise flat in the paintings. The glass hums with life.
